10 Years of Bruising Egos & Building Legends

If you’ve ever said, “I run ultras,” this is the race that comes back with, “Prove it.”

Join us at the Solang SkyUltra — the mountain’s favorite ego-crusher since 2015. Celebrating a decade of DNFs, broken toenails, hallucinations, and very questionable life choices —we’re back to find out who’s still foolish enough to toe the line.

This isn’t your local 10K with bananas at every turn. This is a high-altitude sucker punch to your confidence. This is where trail running meets soul-searching. Welcome to The DNF Race—because finishing is optional, but suffering is guaranteed.

Wait, what’s so special?

  • 10th Edition—This year’s pain is dipped in nostalgia and sprinkled with Himalayan-grade humiliation.
  • Most DNFs in Indian Trail Running History—Bragging rights for not finishing.
  • Global Reputation—Runners from across the world join in, only to question their choices.
  • Vertical Torture—Climbing up to 7350 meters of gain. You asked for “views,” not vertical regret? Oops.

The Categories: Pick Your Punishment

Mt. Patalsu Challenge—14 KM

One peek. One shot. No time to think.
At 4,200 meters, Mt. Patalsu might just be the shortest ITRA 1-pointer on Earth—and one of the nastiest. You have 6 hours to convince your legs and lungs to cooperate.
Spoiler: They probably won’t.

  • Distance: 14 KM
  • Elevation Gain: 1910 m D+
  • ITRA Points: 1
  • Cut-Off Time: 6 hrs

SSU 30 KM – The Fast & the Frustrated

You’ll be hitting spots like Anjani Mahadev, Lady Leg above the Beas Kund, and Naulli Nallah—none of which will feel spiritual once your quads start screaming. A 7-hour cut-off, 2110 meters of vertical pain, and a leg day that haunts you for life.

  • Distance: 30 KM
  • Elevation Gain: 2110 m D+
  • ITRA Points: 2
  • Cut-Off Time: 7 hrs

SSU 60 KM – More Miles, More Mayhem

Think of it as the 30K… but twice as long and twice as cruel. 4210 meters up. Legs fried. Mind unraveling.
Checkpoint food tastes like betrayal. And yet, you’ll beg for more.

  • Distance: 60 KM
  • Elevation Gain: 4210 m D+
  • ITRA Points: 3
  • Cut-Off Time: 15 hrs
    • Interim:
      • 21 KM in 5:30h at Kothi Base
      • 32 KM in 8:30h at Solang Bridge
      • 40 KM in 10:30h at Palchani Naala

SSU 100 KM – The Legend-Maker (or Breaker)

This is where your trail running résumé earns its stripes—or burns.
You’ll scale over 7350 meters, crossing hellish and aesthetic sections like the Death Climb, the Bhrigu Lake, Burwa, Vashisht, and the Lady Leg above Beas Kund. You’ll hallucinate, bargain with the universe, and probably cry under the stars. If you’re still moving at 27 hours, we might even cheer you on.

  • Distance: 100 KM
  • Elevation Gain: 7350 m D+
  • ITRA Points: 5
  • Cut-Off Time: 32 hrs
    • Interim:
      • 27.45 KM in 6:00 hrs
      • 51.1 KM in 15:00 hrs
      • 79.73 KM in 27:00 hrs

Mandatory Gear – No Excuses, No Exceptions

This is the Himalayas, not your neighborhood trail. We don’t gamble with safety—and neither should you. Every participant must carry the following mandatory gear, without exception.

No gear at BIB collection = No bib. No bib = No race.
Argue all you want, but we’re not budging.

For the Global Athlete

Flying from Europe or anywhere else?
We got you. Cultural shocks are included free of charge.
India’s Himalayas aren’t like those Alps. They’re wilder, rawer, and unapologetically chaotic. The dogs bark louder, the climbs are steeper, and the food will either heal you or haunt you. (Also, chai. Lots of chai.)

Coming from within India?
Welcome. You already know. Solang will not go easy on you just because you took the HRTC bus.

Who Can Enter?

Anyone with a strong heart, solid legs, and zero sense of self-preservation.
You must be 18+ before September 30, 2025.
Under 18? We’ll think about it—but only if you’re tough as nails and your parents are equally insane (written consent mandatory).

Previous ultra experience is recommended, especially for 60K & 100K.
If you’ve danced with Solang before and survived, you know the rhythm. If not… well, good luck.

Who Should Not Register

  • If you want flat trails
  • If you hate mud or your own sweat
  • If you’re still googling “trail shoes”

This isn’t for medals. This is for war stories told around campfires and espresso bars.
For post-race knees that don’t bend.
For those who stare at a 4 AM start line and whisper, “Let’s suffer.”

This isn’t a race. It’s a reckoning.
PS: Most runners don’t finish. Some never return. Are you still in?
DNF with honor. Or finish like a legend.
